The Trigger
The Owo High School Old Students’ Association (OHSOSA) was reinvigorated when four friends (Alfonso B Ademulegun, Ayodele Aruna, Adebumola K Temitope and Kayode Fabumuyi) of the 2K1 Set (Eagle Set) met at Owo during the 2006 Christmas and Eid el-Kabir celebrations.
During their discussion and planning for the Set’s get together party, they reflected on the dilapidated state of their School and the inability of the then Old Students Association to salvage the situation.
Therefore, what was meant to be a small get together party was turned into a mega affair with an invitation to all the various OHSO’s Old Students Association to attend what became the maiden OHSOSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the then Faaji Palace (now De-planet) Okedogbon, Owo. The event was graced by the then Principal of the School, Late. Mr. D.N. Oloro and the PTA Chairman, Hon. S.S. Adenegan as Special Guests of Honour.
The AGM identified and settled all shortcomings inimical to love, unity and development of OHSOSA. A new blueprint and a motto, Vision, Faith, and Unity, to drive OHSOSA were developed at the AGM.
The consolidation work began with the success recorded with the maiden AGM, and with the development of a robust alumni database, the second edition of the OHSOSA’s AGM was held at the Mapo Hall, Owo. A nine-man Caretaker Committee led by Rev. Canon S.B Oladimeji was inaugurated in 2007. Other members of the Caretaker Committee are Mr. E.B Adedapo, Mrs. D.T Adesina, Mrs. V.F Olubodun, Prof. Taiwo Adenegan and Dr. Kehinde Adenegan, Bar. Bola Kayode, Bar. David Uchenna and Mr. Alfonso B. Ademulegun.
Since then, OHSOSA has grown in leaps and bounds as it took an active part in the beautiful and well organised Golden Jubilee Celebration of the School in November 2013.
